Job Description

Overall Purpose of the Job

We are recruiting someone to assist with sourcing new avenues of funding, and overseeing the long-term financial sustainability of the charity, working closely with the Community Coordinators, the Financial Controller and the charity trustees.

Key Responsibilities:

This person will have set key responsibilities which include:

• Searching and applying for eligible funding opportunities.

• Leading the team to undertake monitoring reports and requirements and achieve report deadlines.

• Support the trustees with monitoring in the form of surveys and collating statistics.

• Supporting the team in creating fundraising ideas, and putting these ideas into practice.

• Assist with marketing and promotion of Remark! Community through a variety of channels and means.

• Ensure our shop window is of the highest standard in terms of website, news stories and posters including partners and Grant makers logos.

• Lead the marketing and PR of the charity to ensure optimal outreach.

• Assist with the general financial longevity of the charity, ensuring that both management and coordinators are aware of any potential funding shortfalls.

• Maintain awareness of current spends and budgets, so that we can sustain a proactive response to funding issues.

• Present developments and findings to Trustees at quarterly meetings.

• Creating “Thank you” letters and acknowledgement for funders.

• Ensure consistency with online filing of budgets, applications etc.

Principle accountabilities:

• Possess a good initiative and an ability to think creatively.

• Possess exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken or signed.

• Ability to work within deadlines.

• Excellent admin skills to ensure that report due dates and funding application dates are met.

• Assist with monitoring the project outcomes, working with the Community Coordinators, in order to maintain up to date statistics.

Personal specification:

The successful candidates will:

• Be professional and work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team.

• Have experience with funding applications, bid writing and/or fundraising.

• Be passionate about supporting the Deaf community.

• Have examples of previous work or situations in which you have provided good development strategies.

• Demonstrate good IT skills and be able to produce work and reports to a professional standard.

• Possess exceptional written English skills.

• Good researching skills in order to discover funding streams from alternative sources.

• Be able to obtain a full enhanced DBS.

Desirable qualities:

• Be a native BSL user or possess a minimum BSL Level 3 (preferred).

• Have a qualification relating to accounting or project management.
