Role Summary:
We are seeking skilled and motivated BSL/English Interpreters to join our supportive and thriving team at SignWow. As a Staff Interpreter, you will provide high-quality British Sign Language (BSL)/English interpreting services for a variety of situations, including pre-booked assignments and on-demand calls through the SignWow platform. This role offers the opportunity to work flexibly, interpret across a broad range of settings, and support accessible communication for Deaf and hearing clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpreting Services
- Deliver high quality BSL/English interpretation for remote settings, including scheduled (pre-booked) and on-demand assignments.
- Adapt to a range of contexts and subject matters while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Support seamless communication between Deaf and hearing clients.
- Professional Standards & Service Quality
- Adhere to professional interpreting ethics and guidelines (e.g., NRCPD Code of Conduct)
- Ensure high-quality service delivery and uphold SignWow’s standards for accessibility and respect
- Maintain confidentiality and data protection practices at all times
- Collaboration & Platform Support
- Engage with the SignWow platform and team to ensure smooth service provision
- Provide feedback to management regarding service improvements and user experience
- Participate in team meetings and development activities when required
- Continuous Professional Development
- Stay current with interpreting best practices and updates in technology
- Take part in training, mentoring opportunities, and CPD to maintain and develop professional skills
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications: Qualified BSL/English Interpreter with NRCPD (or equivalent) registration
- Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience as a BSL interpreter (experience in VRS/VRI settings is highly valued but not essential)
- Technical Skills: Comfortable with remote interpreting platforms and video conferencing tools
- Flexibility: Ability to work across various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed
- Professionalism: Commitment to delivering excellent interpreting services and maintaining impartiality and respect for all clients
