Job Description
Initial 1 year contract with the potential to extend
We are continuing to develop and grow our services and are seeking committed and flexible individuals to join our Advocacy Service.
Salary: £24,616 per year (pro-rata)
Hours: 18.5 hours per week to include some unsociable hours, evenings and weekend work will be required.
Office base: Sandwell Deaf Community Association, West Bromwich, West Midlands.
The focus of this post is:
To be responsible for the delivery of an independent issue based advocacy service for people with hearing loss, who are Deaf, who are deafblind.
Experience:
A proven understanding of the principles of advocacy and the rights of people with hearing loss or who are Deaf.
Requirements:
Level 3 Certificate in British Sign Language or equivalent native user BSL skills.
Driving Licence/own vehicle.
National Advocacy Qualification (or working towards)
What does the role involve?
Engage with Deaf people to express their views, wishes and choices and enable the person to remain as involved as possible in decisions which affect their lives.
This post is subject to a six-month probationary period.
Employment will be subject to references and a DBS clearance.
