Support Worker - Specialist Deaf Complex Needs Sup

Job Description
Full-time (37 hours/week) – part-time hours considered
We are continuing to develop and grow our services and are looking for committed and flexible individuals with initiative and a can-do attitude to join our Support Service.
Salary: £26,236 per year (pro rata for part-time)
Hours: 37 hours per week (full-time), including some evenings and weekends. Part-time hours will be considered.
Office base: Sandwell Deaf Community Association, West Bromwich, West Midlands
Purpose of the role
To provide support in the home and local community, enabling the individual to learn and make decisions about their life and future choices.
Essential:
- Experience and understanding of Deaf people with additional and complex needs.
- Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL), or equivalent (including native/near-native BSL skills).
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Willingness to undertake further study to develop BSL skills and complete any job-specific training.
- Responsibility for safeguarding adults at risk.
- Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are upheld at all times, in line with organisational and local safeguarding procedures.
- Demonstrated experience working safely and effectively with adults at risk.
Desirable:
- Certificate in Social Care
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
Personal attributes:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally.
- Present an energetic commitment to the mission and objectives of SDCA.
- Positive and enthusiastic approach.
