Job Description
Citizens Advice Sheffield (CAS) is looking for new Trustees to join our Board
If you are passionate about addressing poverty, inequality and discrimination in Sheffield and want to help one of the city’s leading charities then please read on.
We are looking for people who want Sheffield to be a fair place for all and want to help us make a positive difference to the people we help. Trustees work as part of a team to reach sound decisions. This involves attending board meetings, liaising with CAS staff, reading and commenting on committee papers, and providing advice and guidance on our services. Trustees can also join one of our board sub-committees; Finance, Human Resources (staff and volunteers) and Client Experience.
We want to develop a Board of Trustees that reflects the communities of Sheffield so ideally you would have direct experience (personal or professional) of the issues and challenges our clients face, including financial insecurity, debt, insecure housing, discrimination and other issues facing disadvantaged communities.
Given our longstanding commitment to providing a specialist BSL advice service and recent introduction of a deaf advocacy service we are particularly keen to recruit people from the Deaf community. BSL interpreters will be provided for all meetings.
We value your experience and values most of all. So please do consider applying even if this would be your first trustee role. We will provide support and mentoring to help you develop.
You can find out more about CAS and the services we provide through our website www.citizensadvicesheffield.org.uk
If you think you might be interested please email [email protected] for an information pack which will also tell you how to arrange an informal chat with one of our Trustees. We can also arrange for you to come to a Board Meeting as an observer.
