Role Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity at Cambridgeshire Deaf Association (CDA) to join our team as a Deaf Awareness Trainer. You will be delivering face-to-face to companies, workplaces and groups (ie. Uniformed groups) in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area. This could be teaching BSL to groups during a short session to providing all day training sessions covering the whole topic. There may also be occasions where online training may be required to be delivered. You will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed, with great organisational skills and experienced in presenting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver face to face Deaf Awareness training and BSL Basic courses to various groups and organisations throughout Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, mainly face to face training will be required. However, online training may occasionally need to be delivered.
- Prepare the training fully including printing handouts or preparing presentations
- Ensure customers needs are met by matching the training given to their specific needs
- Keep up to date with technology, sign language and developments in the world of hearing loss and deafness
- Create new training resources with guidance from CDA
- Ensure courses are engaging and positive learning experiences
General Administration:
- Gather feedback from customers about the course through a satisfaction survey
- Answer emails or phones calls regarding Deaf Awareness Training enquiries and booking
- Manage bookings and calendar
- Co-ordinating training with Deaf Awareness colleague
- Gather data and completing monthly reports
Requirements:
- A fluent or native BSL user
- Full driving license and access to vehicle
- Ability to work flexible hours during the week, occasional evenings or weekends may also be required
- Full DBS check
- Time management and organisational skills
- Previous experience in delivering teaching or training would be an advantage
- Experience using PowerPoint and other Microsoft platforms
- Excellent interpersonal skills with colleagues and professionals
- Confident to lone work
- Experience and knowledge of responsibilities in safeguarding.
- Confident to deliver engaging training, and talking to groups of people
- Good sense of humour / easy to laugh and smile
- Enjoy and feel comfortable meeting new people at all levels
